Getting good audio for your notes
The clearer the recording, the better the transcript and the note. A few things help most.
Distance
Keep the laptop or phone roughly the same distance from you and your client, about one to one and a half metres away. While you record, the bars under the timer show what the microphone hears: if they stay flat while you speak, it is not picking you up.
Background noise
Place white-noise machines outside the door, not beside the microphone. A steady hum makes speech harder to separate.
Hard surfaces
A hollow or glass table can echo. Put a mat or a cloth under the device.
An external microphone
If you can, use a USB microphone placed between you and your client.
Recording on another device
You can record on a phone or a dedicated recorder and upload the file afterwards: choose New session, then Upload a recording instead. MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC and WebM files are accepted. Oramta deletes its copy as soon as it has been analysed, the same as a recording made in Oramta. The original stays on your phone or recorder until you delete it there.
